Oracle is releasing a new version of the Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management platform later this month. The 11.1.2 release is the first major release since July of 2008 when version 11 first came out. This release is full of new features, tighter integration and includes some new and enhanced products and modules. Here are a few of the highlights within the EPM suite:
Hyperion Planning
This release has the largest number of product enhancements over the last 5+ years including:
· New data form designer that allows the user to drag and drop dimensions into the rows, columns and pages
· Greatly improved process management and workflow interface including hierarchical and matrix promotion paths that can be defined
· Validations of plans including color coding, notifications and approvals
· Full planning functionality is now available in Smart View (Excel) and task lists and user actions are now available within MS Outlook
· New modules include Public Sector Planning and Balance Sheet Planning
· Ability to create formula based rows, hidden rows and create custom conditional formatting rulesets
Improving the Financial Close Process
This release includes two new products to improve the entire process of closing the books, filing and reporting. The first product is Financial Close Management (FCM). This product facilitates a better, more automated workflow enabled process to streamline the extended close process. FCM provides the ability to better manage their close tasks and schedules with active calendars, task management and process monitoring.
The second new product that improves the financial close process is Disclosure Management (DM). This product allows companies to assemble a reporting package for submission to a regulatory agency such as a 10K or 10Q to the SEC. These reporting packages not only include the financial statements but the supporting schedules and commentary. DM delivers self service XBRL reporting and eliminates the need for 3rd party providers.
Other important new features within the 11.1.2 release
· Essbase Analytics Link for HFM – Provides seamless integration to move data from HFM to Essbase for extended financial analytics
· Data Relationship Management (DRM) – Provides a change management platform for complex, enterprise dimensions. DRM has several new features but most importantly it now has a full featured, browser-based client and has 64-bit server support.
